Montresor, a man who searches revenge. Fortunato, a wine connoisseu against whom Montresor searches revenge. It is early evening in an Italian city during a carnival immediately preceding Lent.

Montresor tells the story in the first person. In his narration he uses pronouns like I, me, my, and so on. Short story in the horror genre.
- Montresor`s revenge has two conditions:
He wanted to do his strategically plan for Fortunato, without anyone notice. His plan is perfect.
- Why is it important that the story takes place during the carnival season?
Because it was a special day in which everyone was celebrating the carnival and they weren`t going to realize what was happening.
- How did Montresor make sure that there would be no servants at his palace when he arrived there with Fortunato?
Because Montresor strategically, he had sent his servants away to the carnival.
- What were Fortunato`s succesive reactions.
Fortunato didn`t have idea what really was happening, even he thought it was a joke.
